EU’s Malmstrom sees possible extension to May 18 deadline for US car tariffs

According to an interview published in the Sueddeutsche newspaper on Monday, European (EU) Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom said that she expects the US President Trump to defer the May 18 deadline for the US tariffs on cars imported from the EU, as cited by Reuters.

Malmstrom said it was possible the deadline could be extended as Washington focuses on its ongoing negotiations with Beijing.

“There are signals that it could be extended - because of the negotiations between the U.S. and China,” she quoted.
