GBP/JPY dragged lower below 168 handle

FXStreet (Guatemala) - GBP/JPY has made fresh lows as Sterling is sold off to 1 month lows and rumours and reports of Russian troops storming a Ukrainian base in Simferopol.

Price action in GBP/JPY has extended losses from 169.62 the high and recently touched 167.81. Meanwhile, USD/JPY is sticking to a sideways rage bound channel that continues to find support from 101.40, while Sterling continues to slide having already lost 80 pips since Asia opened overnight and is dragging the cross as cable is making 1 month lows at 1.6545 so far.

GBP/JPY Levels

The 20 DMA is 170.55, 170.10 the 50 DMA is 160.80 while the 200 DMA is 34.61. Supports are 167.55, and 167.80. Spot is 167.94 while resistances are 170.20, 171.60, 172.10 and 172.85.

Russian troops storming naval base in Simferopol

Ukraine's Defence Minister Ihor Tenyukh has just informed on facebook that Russian soldiers had stormed a military building in Simferopol, shooting in the air. It has been reported that at least one Ukrainian officer had been wounded.
