Further stimulus not needed – BoE’s K.Forbes
At her speech on ‘Global economic tsunamis: Coincidence, common shocks or contagion?’, BoE‘s MPC member Kristin Forbes said she is not convinced that further stimulus is needed following the recently announced measures. Forbes advocated against expanding the asset purchases, arguing higher costs than benefits
Forbes also added that the performance of consumer prices as well as the behaviour of businesses and consumers is key in determining appropriate measures.
She has also talked down the initial consequences of the ‘Brexit’ vote on the economy, being less drastic than expected, at least for the time being.
