US: Consumer confidence index rises to 81.5 in August
FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index rose to 81.5 in August from 81.0 the previous month (upwardly revised from 80.3).
This reading comes above market expectations of a dip to 79.0.
"Consumer confidence increased slightly in August, a result of improving short-term expectations," said Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators at the Conference Board. "Consumers were moderately more upbeat about business, job and earning prospects."
